iAllowance (Chores Allowances) App Reviews

I have had this app for a few months. In that time I have had to reconfigure my synch maybe 10+ times. Ive tried all different options. Im done trying to resolve. Currently I only use it on my phone which totally defeats the purpose of allowing my kids to see their chores and what theyve earned plus have my wife also help keep track of the chores and earned money. Now Im starting my search for a new app.

This app is very simple to use and nicely laid out/organized. It is working very well for us to track our sons chores and the money he earns completing his work. He enjoys getting the check marks and using the app too. The customer service is fantastic too. When I had a question about the app, I got a response almost immediately.

This app is great!!! You can decide what chores you want your kids to do.. Very easy to set up with ones they already have or add your own chores! The rewards are easy to keep track of and encourage the kids to do more Less complaining and easy to keep track off!! Amazing!!

I used to love this app until it stopped saving my transactions. Now its useless, and I have to start all over again to get it to (maybe) work again. Prior review: I love this app because its a great way to teach my kids (ages 8 and 6) financial responsibility. I especially love the ability to set up different banks with different interest rates. Each of my kids gets two banks - one thats for savings with 5% interest, and the other for college with 10% interest. All money they get from chores/gifts gets split 50/50 between the two banks, and the college bank is untouchable (no withdrawals). Its showing them what a big difference interest rates and saving makes when they compare their balances. As my kids get older, Ill take more advantage of the chore tracking functions. I think this is the best app out there, and you cant start too early teaching your kids about earning and managing their money.

We tried other apps to help chart and reward chores, but this one is easily the best. Flexible, expandable and we can use it across a mixed bag of iDevices.

We use this daily in our family to track kids chores and act as a mobile bank for the kids when shopping. I split the payment for each chore in half - half to savings and half to spending. Every once in a while the kids deposit their savings into the real bank. Nice with family sharing I paid for app once and while family has it. Set myself up as parent so kids cant cheat. Kids love it as they can monitor growth in wealth and have become very careful with sending their own money. Only complaint is with synching - iCloud requires you to log in with same ID on all devices. So I use Dropbox, but it is slow. But developer is very responsive t complaints and suggestions. ***Update. Despite developer support, synch between devices using drop box still not working. Still love the app but weve resorted to printing out chore list and keeping track on just my device. Sure wish they could fix the synch feature! ****second update. Developer remains active and I am finally able to synch via Dropbox with all family devices. The synch is still not as smooth as Id like it - takes forever it seems - but it works. Other than this it remains on my home screen till the kids leave the nest!

Easy to set up and then it just runs itself. My kids like to log on to see how much money they have. I dont have to keep track anymore because this app does it for me. I had an older version and then upgraded. When I had trouble getting the old info transferred, I contacted Jim. He was quick to return my emails and fixed everything for me with very simple explanations. Id highly recommend this app.

When we first got the app, it was wonderful. We synced seamlessly between my phone, our iPad (which our kids used to mark things completed) & my husbands phone for quite some time. Then we started running into problems. My husband couldnt sync, and when I tried to sync between the other two devices, Id get duplicate allowance additions. Ended up deleting it off of the iPad & now I solely use it on my phone. I havent downloaded it since the latest update. I really like the app apart from that - plenty of options for tracking (chores, behavior, whatever) and rewards (time, money, etc.). Set up was relatively painless. (We still use it - and our kids range from 11-17) If the syncing issue is really taken care of, definitely a 5-star app. Otherwise, I stand by my 4-star rating.

Have tried about 99994858584939 different ways of tracking chores and behaviors and allowance and this is the only thing that we have stuck with. Dry erase chart? Two months. Marble jar: 2 weeks. Paper chart? Forgot to update... This app: months and months of continued use. Worth every penny. Pros: -always available (on my iphone) -emailed the developer direct who answered my questions and implemented one of my requests -being able to customize chores (i.e.: kid one feeds the cat and kid 2 cleans the litter box for twice the stars) -ability to pay out in reward points or $ has really helped Cons: -Only works really effectively on a single device. Sync is a challenge (we just decided on which. Device we track on and email reports weekly for balances) -home screen shows total balance - would love to be able to customize to show just spending money

More than just an allowance tracker. This app lets us deposit and withdraw points for anything we want. Its a great behavioral tool. The conversion feature means that we can convert points into real money periodically. So the kids know that on Fridays they get their allowance, but they also get their points converted. Having a custom checklist in addition to manual entry helps a lot. And being able to set up automatic interest payments is great. As for customer service, I had a little bug, emailed them, and the developer emailed me back with a quick fix and promise that it would be fixed permanently in the update that week. Ive been recommending it to other parents. Did I mention that it also allows you to keep track of allowances and lets your kids have the ability to pay for thugs themselves when you are out. "Mom, can I have that?" "Well, lets check the app and see if you can afford it."

This App works great for tracking and has really helped motivate our kids! I like the customization that is available. The sync feature is not working properly. Hoping that is resolved soon!

Need the ability to earn 1 dollar per day if all chores were completed that day. This doesnt give me that control and wont work for me :(. Get that and I think its a 5 Star!!

Of all the allowance apps, this one seemed to have the best feature set -- sync, multiple banks, and so on. But there are a few drawbacks not obvious from the docs: - Dropbox sync only goes to the Apps folder, so all devices must be signed into the same Dropbox account. (My wife has a separate Dropbox account; we have a shared folder, but we cant use it for iAllowance.) - Dropbox sync dies pretty often. Lost data is common. Its a little hard to keep track of. The base functionality is good but unstable. Not that it matters much, but the UI is ugly. The UX is awkward: theres way too much punching and scrolling to get to the most common operations. But from what Ive seen of the allowance apps -- its the best of a bad bunch.

We have used this app for years now and it is so reliable, convenient, and well thought out. As my kids grow older our usage changes, and the app is so customizable that it can change along with us. We use the it for chores and clothing allowance, and to help the kids learn abt good saving habits, dividing earned money into spending money, saving for a big item, and long term savings (they now have a "money tree" thanks to iAllowance). It is so useful to us! After several years I contacted the developer for the first time with a question and he got back to me within a day, and was very helpful. I cant recommend this app high enough!

Great app if you are looking to track chores especially if your child is saving up for something. I tried several others and they didnt work nearly as well. Also, the developer is extremely helpful and responsive. I had a question and he helped me until I figured it out. Highly recommend. The upgrade/full app is worth the cost.

I cant wrap my head around this app. Wish I hadnt spent my money on it.

This software is excellent for keeping track of your kids allowance. I have used this software for 3 months and I am not planning on using any other allowance app.
